Privacy policy
This covers the ReadsHuman website (readshuman.app) and the ReadsHuman browser extension. The short version: ReadsHuman has no accounts and keeps none of your text. It goes to Prometey and an AI provider to be checked or rewritten, and nowhere else.
Your text
- When it’s sent: on the website, when you type, paste or press Rewrite (on the free trial, or once you’ve connected Prometey). In the extension, when you type in a text field on a site where the extension is on, or when you ask for a rewrite.
- What’s sent: the paragraphs that need checking, or the text you asked to rewrite, plus the instructions for the AI. Nothing else from the page.
- Where it goes: to Prometey, which passes it to an AI provider: the one linked to your Prometey account once you’ve connected (for example Google, Groq, Mistral or OpenRouter), or ReadsHuman’s during the free trial. Their privacy policies apply to what they receive. Some free tiers keep prompts or use them for training, so don’t check confidential text.
- What ReadsHuman keeps: none of your text.
The free trial
On the website, visitors who haven’t connected Prometey can make a few checks and rewrites a day. Those requests go to a small ReadsHuman service (a Cloudflare Pages Function), which passes the text to Prometey using ReadsHuman’s own account and returns the answer. It doesn’t store or log the text.
To count trial uses, it stores a one-way code made from your IP address and the date, with the number of uses that day. The code changes every day, can’t be turned back into your address, and old rows are deleted. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, processes IP addresses to serve it; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
What is stored on your device
- Website: your draft, your chosen rewrite mode and your Prometey access token, in your browser’s local storage. Clear them with the Clear button and Disconnect, or by clearing site data.
- Extension: your Prometey access token, the name of the last AI model used, and your settings (live checking on or off, sites you turned it off for, default rewrite mode), in the extension’s own storage. Removing the extension deletes them.
Fields the extension never reads
Password fields, payment card fields, one-time codes, and fields for email addresses or usernames are skipped entirely. The extension also does nothing on sites you turn it off for.
Extension permissions
- Read and change data on websites: needed to underline mistakes and replace text in the field you’re typing in. It only acts on the focused text field.
- prometey.cc: to send checks and rewrites to Prometey.
- Storage: to keep your token and settings.
- Context menus: for “Rewrite with ReadsHuman” when you right-click selected text.
- Active tab: to show the current site’s name in the toolbar popup, so you can turn it off there.
Analytics, ads and cookies
None. ReadsHuman doesn’t use analytics, ads, tracking pixels or cookies, and doesn’t sell or share any data.
Children
ReadsHuman isn’t aimed at children under 13. Prometey and AI providers have their own age requirements.
